Microsoft’s Windows Upgrade Deadline—Now Just 8 Weeks Away

Microsoft warned that Secure Boot certificates issued in 2011 will expire in 2026, creating a deadline about eight weeks away.

Updated 2023 certificates are being pushed automatically via Windows Update to consumer and some business devices.

The Windows Security app now shows whether a device received the update using green, yellow, and red indicators.

Unsupported Windows 10 PCs may be blocked by the expiration and need Extended Security Updates (ESU) enrollment.

Microsoft said further improvements and additional Secure Boot warnings will roll out starting May 2026.
