Russia builds first RITM-200 reactor unit for floating nuclear power plant fleet

Rosatom’s Machine Building Division has completed the first 58 MWe RITM-200C reactor unit for a floating nuclear power plant fleet.

The unit will be part of the FPU-106 system, designed to power a copper mining complex in Russia’s Chukotka region.

The project builds on lessons from the operating Akademik Lomonosov floating plant.

It marks another step in Russia’s push to use floating nuclear plants for remote, Arctic, and offshore energy needs.
