Microsoft Wants to Bring SteamOS-Level Gaming Performance to Windows 11 While Cutting Back AI Bloat With ‘K2’ Project

Microsoft is reportedly developing an internal Windows 11 effort called K2 to make the OS faster, lighter, and more stable.

The plan would reduce AI features and other bloat, lower memory use, and streamline updates and testing.

K2 aims to improve gaming performance and File Explorer speed through regular Windows updates, not a new OS version.

If it succeeds, Windows 11 could feel more responsive and closer to the efficiency users often associate with SteamOS.
