Meta lays off thousands of employees to offset AI investments

Meta has started notifying employees of layoffs affecting about 8,000 people.

At the same time, it is moving more than 7,000 staff into AI-related roles and closing 6,000 open positions.

The move is aimed at offsetting rising costs from Meta’s heavy investment in AI.
