Gboard rolling out M3 Expressive redesign of shortcuts on Android

Gboard is rolling out a Material 3 Expressive redesign for its Android shortcuts and customization screens.

The old grid layout is being replaced with larger pill-shaped shortcut items and horizontal paging.

The update is appearing in the stable Android app through a server-side rollout.

Google also added a new banner and refreshed controls for reordering shortcuts, including Writing Tools.
