The Pickle Is In: You’ll See This Emoji and More on Your Device Next Year

The Unicode Consortium approved nine new emoji, including a pickle, a cracking face, and left/right thumb gestures.

The set also adds a monarch butterfly, lighthouse, meteor, eraser, and a net with a handle.

Apple, Samsung, and other device makers must design and ship their own versions before users can see them.

The new emoji are likely to reach devices in a 2027 software update.
