Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department introduces mist fans to prevent heatstroke among riot police officers

The Metropolitan Police Department will introduce mist fans to help riot police prevent heatstroke during outdoor security duty.

The fans spray fine water mist and spread it with airflow, and will be used for now until the extreme heat eases.

They are intended for officers guarding important protected facilities such as the Prime Minister’s Office and the National Diet Building.

The department will not disclose installation locations or the number of units for security reasons.
