Apple is rolling out end-to-end encryption for iPhone-to-Android RCS messages

Apple’s iOS 26.5 adds end-to-end encryption to RCS chats between iPhones and Android phones.

The feature works with the latest Google Messages and major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

This brings iPhone-to-Android texting up to the security standard already used by Android RCS.

The update narrows the privacy and feature gap between Apple and Android messaging.
