UK solar supplies 14.4% of electricity in July... highest monthly share ever

In July, solar power supplied 14.4% of Great Britain’s electricity grid, a record high for any month.

That beat the previous peak of 12.4% in May and was well above 9.6% in July last year.

The jump was driven by new solar installations and unusually sunny weather.

The record highlights how quickly solar, and renewables more broadly, are expanding in the UK power mix.
