AMD Zen 6 “Low Power” Core to Match or Exceed Zen 5, as It Aims to Be a Collage of Different Zen Architectures Spanning Zen 2 to Zen 6

AMD appears to be preparing a third Zen 6 core type: a low-power client variant, often referred to as Zen 6LP.

It is aimed at laptops and handhelds, and is said to keep the Zen 6 ISA while blending architectural elements from Zen 2 through Zen 5.

Linux kernel patch details suggest it could arrive in the Medusa APU family around CES 2027.

If accurate, the design could improve battery life and idle efficiency while preserving most of the performance users expect.
