XChat, the standalone app for messaging on X, is available on iOS now

X has launched XChat on iOS as a standalone messaging app.

The app adds encrypted chats, message editing and deletion, disappearing messages, screenshot blocking, and voice and video calls.

XChat is also expected to handle large group chats as X retires Communities.

The move points to a broader shift in X’s messaging strategy, with XChat potentially becoming the core chat platform.
