Non-functioning counterfeit Samsung 990 Pro SSDs are circulating in Europe — Despite convincing packaging, blue PCB easily gives away the dupe

A buyer in Austria received a counterfeit Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD from a retailer, despite packaging that looked authentic.

The fake drive had a blue PCB, was flagged as non-genuine by Samsung Magician, and could not be formatted.

The vendor is investigating, while Samsung says customers should buy only from certified retailers.

The case shows counterfeit SSDs are reaching consumers through legitimate-looking channels in Europe.
