China unveils hydrogen-powered fuel cell stack for long-range industrial drones

Researchers at the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics in China developed a lightweight, air-cooled hydrogen fuel cell stack for industrial drones.

The system passed a national scientific appraisal and was demonstrated in drone flight, reportedly more than tripling endurance versus conventional batteries.

The breakthrough could help drones fly longer for agriculture, inspections, emergency response, and other industrial tasks.

It may also support China’s growing low-altitude economy by easing one of the biggest limits on drone operations.
