Spain Blocks Polymarket And Kalshi As It Investigates Prediction Market Platforms

Spain has blocked Polymarket and Kalshi while it reviews whether the prediction-market platforms are operating without required gambling licenses.

The Consumer Affairs Ministry says the precautionary move is part of a broader investigation that could be completed in about four months.

If the platforms are found to be operating illegally, Spain may impose new licensing requirements for prediction markets.

The action adds to growing global regulatory pressure on Polymarket and Kalshi, which have also faced scrutiny over jurisdiction and gambling-law compliance.
