A SpaceX filing points to space-based solar and orbital data centers as a response to surging AI power demand.

The document suggests Elon Musk is increasingly looking beyond Earth for scalable clean energy for compute infrastructure.

At the same time, Musk’s companies still rely on natural gas and battery storage on Earth and buy relatively little solar equipment.

The shift raises questions about whether the next leap in clean power and AI infrastructure will happen on Earth or in space.
