Elon Musk's xAI discussed partnership with Mistral to try and rival OpenAI and Anthropic, report

Business Insider says xAI recently discussed a possible partnership with Mistral, with Cursor also included in the proposed tie-up.

The timing overlaps with SpaceX’s deal giving an option to buy Cursor for $60 billion.

The talks point to consolidation in AI as rivals race to scale compute and frontier models.

xAI is also continuing to expand its AI infrastructure, including its Colossus buildout.
