Take-Two lays off AI team members weeks after "embracing" generative AI

Take-Two cut part of its AI division, including its Head of Artificial Intelligence.

Luke Dicken, appointed Head of AI in early 2025, said on LinkedIn his time at Take-Two has ended.

Dicken joined from Zynga after about a decade and had been the architect of Zynga's generative AI strategy.

Much of Take-Two's AI group appears to have been formed from Zynga's applied AI department; Take-Two acquired Zynga for $12.7 billion in 2022.

CEO Strauss Zelnick publicly praised AI in February but said generative AI is not part of GTA 6; his comments followed Google's Project Genie, which turns text into short explorable video environments and caused Take-Two's stock to fall to an 11-month low, while president Karl Slatoff dismissed Genie as not being a game engine.
