MS is testing its first real-time bidirectional voice AI, 'MAI Realtime'

Microsoft has begun private testing of MAI Real-Time, its first in-house real-time, two-way voice AI model.

The model uses full-duplex architecture to listen and speak simultaneously, aiming for natural interruptions and faster responses.

It supports 17 languages and is being positioned as a possible fit for Copilot, AI developer tools, and Foundry.

The move signals Microsoft’s effort to reduce dependence on OpenAI and strengthen its own voice AI stack.
