OpenAI shut down ChatGPT accounts linked to a Cambodia-based criminal group operating out of Poipet.

The group allegedly used ChatGPT to create fake identities, multilingual messages, bogus investment promotions, and forged documents for crypto fraud.

Investigators also found romance-and-friendship scams, follow-up payment demands, recruiter hiring, and signs of labor trafficking.

OpenAI shared its findings with the industry and law enforcement.
