The 10 Pokémon cards most likely to be fake (and how to tell)

PSA says submissions of altered Pokémon cards jumped 407% in 2025, signaling a sharp rise in fraud risk for collectors and buyers.

The most commonly counterfeited targets include popular modern and character cards such as Charizard, Pikachu, Marnie, Gengar VMAX, Eevee, Lillie, and Reshiram & Charizard GX.

PSA also outlined six visual checks for authentication: edges, color, shape, gloss, layering, and size.

The warning comes as counterfeit and altered cards become harder to spot and more common in the grading pipeline.
