KDDI and Lawson: Office Unmanned Convenience Store Installable by 'Product Shelf' Units

KDDI and Lawson begin a trial of a new office unmanned convenience store from April 7.

The pilot location is Lawson S KDDI Tama Center Building, opening April 7.

The concept uses modular unit-type shelves—installable per product shelf and combinable (e.g., rice and refrigerated units).

No dedicated zones or large piping work are required, enabling low-cost, quick openings; nearby stores handle operations and restocking.

Payments use a smartphone checkout via the Office Lawson app, which also issues employee coupons and discounts; hours 7:00–22:00 on weekdays, closed weekends and holidays; commercialization planned by FY2027 with expansion to other offices.
