Google announces Wear OS 6.1 with location-based time zone detection

Google announced Wear OS 6.1, which adds location-based time zone detection so watches can set time without a paired phone.

The update is built on Android 16 QPR2 (API level 36.1) from December 2025 and has no major visible UI changes.

Wear OS 6.1 also adds a Kids graduation feature and improved re-authentication that avoids factory resets.

Google has not started rolling out the update yet; Pixel Watch 4 is expected to receive it first.
