Eurosky: Europe aims to rival Big Tech with its own social media ecosystem

Europe’s Netherlands-based Eurosky has launched a new social ecosystem infrastructure centered on digital identity and personal data servers.

The system lets users keep their data on European servers and connect to apps built on the AT Protocol.

Eurosky currently relies partly on Bluesky infrastructure, but the long-term goal is full independence.

The launch supports Europe’s effort to build a homegrown social media stack with stronger data control and EU compliance.

It could become a challenger to US platforms like Meta and X as Europe seeks more digital sovereignty.
