YouTube is now available on Android Auto, but there is a catch

YouTube has been added to Android Auto's media controls so you can play, pause, and skip content from the car screen.

On Android Auto the YouTube player streams audio only and does not display video.

The player does not allow seeking within an item and does not show browsing options due to interface limits.

Using YouTube on Android Auto requires background playback, which needs a YouTube Premium plan starting at $7.99/mo in the US.
