The US phone market struggled in Q1, but one Android maker made serious headway

Omdia said U.S. smartphone shipments fell 3% year over year in Q1 2026 to 33.4 million units.

Apple still led with 60% share despite a 3% decline, while Samsung held 24% after a 5% drop.

Motorola was the standout among Android brands, growing 18% to 11% share.

Higher memory and storage costs, slower carrier upgrades, and delayed launches weighed on the market.
