Meta has misled users about scam ads on Facebook and Instagram, lawsuit says

Consumer Federation of America filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against Meta over alleged scam ads on Facebook and Instagram.

The complaint says Meta’s ad library shows scam promotions and that the company charged riskier advertisers more instead of blocking them.

Meta says it aggressively removes scam ads and accounts, rejecting the allegation that it tolerated fraud for revenue.

The case could push Meta to tighten ad screening and change how it monetizes higher-risk advertisers.
