All Android backup data now counts toward your Google Account storage [Update: Email]

Google is changing Android backup policy so backed-up data now counts against Google Account storage.

That includes SMS messages, call history, device settings, and other phone data.

Google is also adding new backup toggles and per-app controls to let users choose what gets included.
