Disneyland Now Uses Face Recognition on Visitors

Disney is rolling out an optional facial recognition entry system at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

Face data will be converted into numerical templates and generally kept for up to 30 days, with longer retention allowed for legal or fraud-prevention reasons.

The company says visitors can opt in, but images may still be captured at non-facial-recognition entrances.

The move expands biometric surveillance into a major theme park setting and is drawing privacy concerns.
