Unitree CEO says robots could surpass Usain Bolt’s 100m speed this year

Unitree founder Wang Xingxing said humanoid robots could outrun human sprint records as soon as mid-year, potentially running 100 meters in under 10 seconds.

He pointed to faster algorithm iteration, cheaper core components, and a stronger supply chain as key drivers of the progress.

Wang said the technology is moving closer to practical uses in logistics and industrial inspection.

A Zhejiang University team’s Bolt robot has already reached 10 meters per second.
